On Sunday night in Hobart the first season sire Capt Midnight produced his first 2yo winner when his daughter Daisypea thrashed her opposition with a 27-metre win in the $14,000 2yo race.

Trained by Tammy Langley and driven by her nephew Mitch Ford, Daisypea also collected a Tasbred $10,000 First Win Bonus for her owner Tiarna Ford.

Having just her second start in a race Daisypea covered the mile in 1:59.7 and came home the final half in 58.7 seconds.

At the Nutrien Bathurst Yearling Sale on March 30 there are three yearlings by Capt Midnight, a well-performed son of Captaintreacherous, on offer – two fillies and one colt.

Lot 43, on account of Golden Gait Stud, is a filly from the unraced Mach Three mare Contessa Stride and this filly is a half-sister to Bling It Up, which has won 18 races and $75,879, and to Mister Quirk which is a five-time winner of $55,019 and was runner-up in a NSW Breeders Challenge Blue Final as a 2yo.

Contessa Stride is a half-sister to the well-performed Dynamite Denn Nee which won 22 races and $292,527 and last season her first two foals, a 2024 3yo and a 2024 2yo were both winners in good time.

Lot 48, on account of Matthew McCaffrey, is a colt by Capt Midnight from the New Zealand bred Real Desire mare Real Star which won eight races.

Real Star’s first foal Gracenava has a record of 1:55.0 with her eight wins yielding $80,735 after placing third at Redcliffe last Thursday.

Real Star is a half-sister to the Group Two Newcastle Mile winner Saucy Legend which won 31 races and $435,386 and to Saucy Master, 39 wins and $434,252, and Saucy Vision which won 18 races and $165,407.

The third yearling by Capt Midnight to go under the hammer at Bathurst will be Lot 49 on account of Golden Gait Stud and it is a filly out of the six-time winning Rock N Roll Heaven mare Priority To Party.

Priority To Party is a half-sister to five winners including Ideal Priority which is a producer of six winners including the 2016 Australian 2yo Filly Pacer of the Year and 2017 Australian 3yo filly Pacer of the Year Petacular which retired as a winner of 18 races and $454,083.
