After a promising start to his career as a 2yo in 2024 the 3yo Art Major colt Wazza resumed at Ararat last Friday, for trainer Emma Stewart and driver Allan McDonough, with an impressive 15 metre win over American Victory and Lively Rascal.

Wazza was placed at each of his three 2yo starts before finishing down the track in the $250,000 Nutrien Equine Classic last April won by The Highlight Reel from Storms Collide and Fate Awaits – that trio line up in this Saturday’s $200,000 NSW Derby at Menangle.

Wazza pulled up lame after the Nutrien 2yo Classic but a lengthy break has seen him make a full recovery.

Wazza’s win came a little less than three hours after his 5yo half-sister  Scheming won the last race at the Wagga meeting in the Riverina. It was Scheming’s sixth win.

Lot 45 in next weekend’s Nutrien Sydney Sale is a half-brother to Wazza and Scheming by Downbytheseaside and is being offered for sale by Benstud and clients.

Wazza’s dam, the Bettors Delight mare War Dan Bad Girl, included a win in the 2yo consolation of the Australian Pacing Gold among her three victories and $75,650 in stakes.

War Dan Bad Girl is a full-sister to Weona Sizzler which won a heat of the Bathurst Gold Crown and was later sold to the USA where he took a 1:50.0 record and finished with 35 wins and stakes of $434,374.

The cross of Downbytheseaside over a Bettors Delight mare has already produced 36 winners in Australia and New Zealand including the 2023 New Zealand 2yo Pacing Filly of the Year Coastal Babe which has seven wins and $395,983 in stakes.

Benstud NSW is preparing Lot 45 for Sunday’s sale and they can be contacted on 0458 658 273 to arrange inspection.
