On the eve of the announcement of the 2024 Australian Harness Racing Awards it was fitting that a full-brother to the 2023 Australian 2yo Pacing Filly of the Year Lux Aeterna should break his maiden status with an impressive win at Newcastle on Monday afternoon.

Trained and driven by Rickie Alchin, the Captaintreacherous colt San Sebastian started a raging favourite and won comfortably by more than three metres rating a smart 1:56.4 for the mile.

A full-brother to San Sebastian and Lux Aeterna will be offered as Lot 35 in the Nutrien Sydney Yearling Sale on 9 March as Lot 35.

Lot 35 is out of the Jeremes Jet mare The Arch Nemesis which has a unique place in Australian Breeding as the dam of three 1:50.0 performers in Lux Aeterna, Captain Crusader and Crunch Time and each of that trio has earned in excess of $400,000.

The grand-dam of Lot 35, Reacquainted, is a Bettors Delight half-sister to the dam of Chariots of Fire and Victoria Cup winning millionaire Caribbean Blaster which is co-incidentally by Bettors Delight.
