If you’re searching for a trotting prospect, Lot 249 at the upcoming Nutrien Melbourne Yearling Sale is well worth a look.

Monday at Maryborough the lightly raced Majestic Son mare Zippin Around produced her third winner when the Pastor Stephen 2yo filly Zippin Past trotted faultlessly to win on debut rating 2:02.6 over the 1690 metres for trainer Glenn Hunter and driver Nathan Jack.

Not only did Zippin Past become her dam’s third winner she became Zippin Around’s third 2yo winner and the mare’s 2024 yearling is another filly.

Her other two 2yo winners are both by Volstead and headed by Zipping Volstead which rated 1:57.8 over 1720 metres when she won her heat of the Vicbred Platinum Homegrown Classic on debut at Melton On in December 2024.

Zippin Around had just the four starts, all as a 2yo, but she is a half-sister Great Southern Stars heat winner Invasive which won 16 races and $141,084 and to the Group One 2yo Redwood Classic winner Elusive Charm which won ten races.

Elusive Charm was voted the 2022 Australian Trotting Broodmare of the Year on the back of her five live foals all being winners headed by three Group One winners in Is That A Bid (2yo Vicbred Platinum Home Grown Classic), Locksley Lover (4yo Vicbred Super Series) and Cognati (2yo Redwood Classic).

Lot 249 is by the 2021 USTA 2yo Colt Trotter of the Year King Of The North whose first crop are being sold in 2026.

Melinda and Danny Thackeray from Aldebaran Park are preparing Lot 249  and they can be contacted on 0458 223 819 to arrange for an inspection.
