The Badlands Hanover mare Jasmine Sheffield produced her second winner when the 4yo Ultimate Machete mare Fuego Cruzado (Spanish for crossfire) won the last at Bendigo on Wednesday night.

Driven by Michael Bellman for trainers Shaun and Jason McNaulty, Fuego Cruzado came from three back on the fence to beat Skadi and My Diamond in the run home.

Fuego Cruzado was bred by Neville and Louise Pangrazio’s Staffordshire Park who will offer a half-brother by The Storm Inside as Lot 232 in the Nutrien Melbourne Yearling Sale on 13 April.

Lot 232 is just the second colt produced by Jasmine Sheffield. Her only other colt was named  Another Nien and he is the winner of ten races and $87,660.

Jasmine Sheffield won seven races and $72,668 herself with her major victory coming in the Listed Eastern Challenge final at Warragul.

This is the maternal family of the Group One Victorian Edgar Tatlow Memorial winner Earl Of Sheffield and the 3yo Group One Vicbred Super Series winner Village Driller.

The Storm Inside had his first crop of 62 foals race as 2yos in 2024 and they provided 26 individual starters and 11 winners of 19 races and $235,176 which placed The Storm Inside sixth on the First Season’s Sires List.

His leading earner for the season was Storms Collide which earned $55,940 and finished second in a heat and the final of the Nutrien Sales Classic.
