The win of Our Uncle Nev at Parkes on Wednesday night for trainer Chris Frisby gave his sire Sportswriter his 598th Southern Hemisphere winner.

More importantly the win provided his New Zealand bred dam Magical Mocca p,1:59.3 with her first winner.

Our Uncle Nev is Magical Mocca’s second foal and her third is an Art Major colt being offered by Ashdon Valley Racing Pty Ltd as Lot 639 in the Nutrien Melbourne Yearling Sale which gets under way on April 1st.

Lot 639 is bred on a successful cross which has produced some 73 winners in Australia and New Zealand including twelve $100,000 earners headed by Group Two Queensland Cup winner Mach Da Vinci p,1:51.1 $344,127 and last Friday night’s Gloucester Park winner Mirragon p,3,1:54.9 $272,675.

Magical Mocca is a half-sister to Gunpowder p,1:51.0 $342,506 and a full-sister to Secrets Out p,1:52.6 $243,502.

Secrets Out is currently at stud in the USA and her first two foals are both winners headed by the American Ideal mare King Princess p,3,1:56.2 $52,807.

The grand-dam of Lot 639 is Holmes Town Girl and this unraced Holmes Hanover mare is a three-quarter sister to Chariots Of Fire and Golden Nugget Championship winner Beefy T p,1:56.7 $369,331.
