The New Year’s Eve meeting at Parkes started on a good note for favourite punters when the 3yo Village Jolt filly Merrywood Rosie won the opening race for trainer Nathan Turnbull and driver Jett Turnbull.

 

Starting favourite at $2.25 Merrywood Rose won easily by 23 metres from Yankee Babe and McSiren.

 

Merrywood Rosie’s breeder  Paul Carmody will offer a half-brother to Merrywood Rosie as Lot 51 at the 2026 Nutrien Bathurst Yearling Sale and this colt is now a half-brother to three winners headed by 3yo NSW Breeders Challenge Blue runner-up Merrywood Tony which won 12 races and $121,144 in stakes.

 

Lot 51 is by Carmody’s stallion Modern Art which is now the sire of 569 winners headed by millionaire Lochinvar Art which won 34 of his 69 career starts and stakes of $1,680,333 which included a career total of seven Group One wins.
