Lot 11 in this weekend’s’ Nutrien Bathurst Yearling Sale is the first foal from the McArdle mare Don’t Ark With Me and this colt is a perfect opportunity to get a head start.

Consigned by Anthony Dumesney this colt is by For A Reason and the cross of For A Reason over a McArdle mare has produced a total of four foals 3yo or older including the current 3yo placegetter Calm Franco.

The three older foals bred on this cross have all been winners in the beautifully named Everything Happens p,1:55.7 $99,202, and the fillies Gabbys Reason p,3,1:57.3 $83,153 and Shez The Reason p,3,1:54.2 $67,778.

Breeders have clearly woken up to the success of this particular cross as there are six of the current crop of 2yos by For A Reason from McArdle mares and one of the six has already started in a 2yo race this season.

In addition to being bred on a highly successful cross Lot 11’s dam is a winning half-sister to six winners including Ark De Jeanne p,1:56.5 $108,858 and Ark Alencon p,1:54.6 $108,830.

The third dam of Lot 11 is the Australian Broodmare of the Year Ark Maree whose 13 foals have produced ten winners including the Queensland Winter Cup winner Atomic Ark p,1:54.1TT $435,113, the 2yo Queensland Triad winner Arkamigo p,1:56.2 $293,474 and the Queensland Ladyship winner Arkareena p,3,1:56.5 $130,305.

Arkareena is now the dam of six in 2:00 including the Redcliffe Derby winner Monarkmac p,1:53.0 $313,002. Monarkmac is by the afore-mentioned McArdle.

Time is running out before Sunday’s sale but Anthony Dumesney can be contacted on 0427 415 098 to inspect Lot 11 or his other two lots in the sale in Lots 30 and 70.
